The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga welcomes applications for the position of Music Therapy Instructor of Practice, 9-month non-tenure track, beginning January 1, 2025. A master's in music therapy and Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) with five years professional experience required. We especially welcome applications from minority candidates. Salary range dependent on qualifications.
Duties: The successful candidate will assist the Director of Music Therapy with all aspects of the undergraduate program in music therapy; Schedule and maintain a caseload of 15-20 direct client contact hours per week with local clinical collaborative partners; Complete and maintain documentation procedures for each client(s) served, noting progress towards achieving set music therapy goals; Maintain and care for music therapy instrument inventory; Serve as clinical practicum supervisor for students enrolled in clinical rotations, as assigned by the Director of Music Therapy and provide clinical observation opportunities for students enrolled in academic courses requiring clinical hours; Serve as course instructor for music therapy concentration courses and ensure compliance with AMTA Standards of Education and Clinical Practice, Code of Ethics, Professional Competencies and Scope of Practice for all students enrolled in the music therapy program.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in music therapy and Board Certified-Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential with at least five years of professional experience.
- Diverse background in clinical practice as a music therapist, and/or advanced training in a music therapy practice (e.g., Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, Developmental Music Therapy, Guided Imagery and Music, Music Psychotherapy, Neurologic Music Therapy, Medical Music Therapy, etc.).
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, supervising and/or mentoring students in music therapy practicum and/or internships.
- Meets all requirements for undergraduate faculty and pre-internship supervision as outlined by the AMTA Standards of Education and Clinical Training Standards for Qualifications and Staffing https://www.musictherapy.org/members/edctstan/

- A music therapy philosophy statement highlighting teaching strategies when working with undergraduate music therapy students (minimum 1 page).
- Clinical musicianship video demonstrating a therapeutic music experience with accompanying one-page explanation highlighting techniques, protocols, goals/objectives, and clinical decision rationale.
- Reference list for three (3) professional references providing name, address, telephone number, email address, and nature of relationship to candidate for each reference.
