The Department of Music at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applicants for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor, Keyboard Area Coordinator, with the anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.
Position Description:
Responsibilities include solo and collaborative performance, applied piano instruction, directing Piano Studies area (including class piano), student recruitment, performance collaboration with faculty colleagues, development activities, active participation in the work of the faculty, other duties as assigned. Additional expectations will include developing and maintaining the piano curriculum, advising piano performance majors, organizing the Piano Arts Festival, maintaining the student chapter of MTNA, representing UTC and serving as a liaison with local, regional and national professional organizations.
Successful (Ideal) candidates will possess the following requirements:
Minimum or Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Piano Performance and/or Pedagogy, or closely related field
- Proven experience in fields such as college-level teaching and collaborative piano
- Experience teaching introductory/advanced courses in piano performance, pedagogy, and literature
- Experience in solo and collaborative performances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates should demonstrate stylistic versatility in performance and teaching
- Experience engaging with the professional and amateur music community
- Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC's Strategic Plan
